The Founders
Golf looks like a game you play alone. It isn't. You swing by yourself, and nobody can take the shot for you, but you never play a round without a group. They keep your pace. They watch your ball into the trees. They see the score you write down. You are accountable to three other people for four hours, and that is exactly what a crew is.
We come out of the trades, and the trades work the same way. You do your own work and you answer for it, but nobody gets good in isolation. Somebody taught every one of us. Somebody vouched for us before we had earned it. That is why there is more than one name on this. A program about showing up for young people cannot be one person who might not show up. And it is why the program is nine sessions instead of one good afternoon, because people do not change in a day. They change slowly, in front of somebody who keeps coming back. We are building the group these students have never been in. It seemed right to build it as one.
